Louise Bown
Louise Bown was born and brought up in Weymouth. She moved away aged 18 to go to university and then work, but the pull of the seaside brought her back aged 25. She has been happily living here ever since. She raised a family in Weymouth and has worked at Weymouth College and local schools.
Louise became a councillor on Dorset Council and Weymouth Town Council in May 2024. For Dorset Council, Louise is vice chair of the Licensing Committee and sits on the Dorset Police and Crime Panel, the Appeals Committee and The People and Health Overview Committee.
On Weymouth Town Council, Louise is vice chair of Human Resources Committee and she sits on the Environment and Services Committee. She also sits on the Climate and Ecological Emergency Working Group.
Louise has been trade union rep in at Weymouth College and at Poole High School and she enjoyed being able to give people a voice. She continues to represent people, for example by working with residents and council officers to find a safe way for school children to cross at Wessex Roundabout.
She swims in the sea year round and plays skittles for a local team. Louise loves her home town and knows how lucky she is to love on the Jurassic Coast.
